Kagetsuen in Hakone offered a memorable stay amid beautiful surroundings. The private onsens were a highlight, perfect for unwinding. I loved that I never had to wait for one. The room had a picturesque garden view and was spacious enough for my family. Breakfast was impressive, featuring a wide variety of both Western and Japanese dishes. Checkout was smooth, and I enjoyed exploring the area after leaving our luggage at the front desk. One downside was the bus ride to the hotel. It felt lengthy and a bit congested, especially during peak times. I also noticed some faint cigarette smoke lingering in the corridor, despite being in a non-smoking room, which was slightly off-putting. Nonetheless, the views of Mt. Fuji were stunning from the hotel, making it worth the trip. I'd recommend checking in early to fully enjoy the amenities.

Hidden gem with glorious views
The room was spacious and beautifully serene, allowing us to soak in the stunning vistas of Mt. Fuji right from our window. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast with a delightful array of local flavors.
However, finding the hotel was a challenge due to ambiguous directions, and the lingering smell of smoke in the corridors detracted from the overall experience. The onsen facilities, while enjoyable, could use some updates.

The private hot springs were a fantastic retreat! The room was clean and spacious, but the hotel felt a bit old-fashioned. Overall a nice stay but a bit far from attractions! 😊

We had a wonderful time soaking in the private onsen. it was a perfect retreat for our family of five, including three teenagers. The buffet breakfast offered an impressive selection that everyone enjoyed, and the staff were attentive and eager to help us make the most of our stay.
My wife says that the bus ride to the hotel can be a bit long and tedious, especially with our teenagers. A shuttle or improved transport options would be a nice enhancement for families.
